Wuxi Opera & Dance Drama Company, originally the Wuxi Opera & Dance Troupe, was established in 1958 and has over the years developed into a company with a staff of more than 150.
Dedicated to creating its original works, the company has been attracting professional talents in script writing and performance to present high-end opera and dance dramas.
These works have won 38 national and provincial awards during the past 20 years, among which the dance drama A Bing (a great blind musician born in Wuxi) and Red River Valley were awarded Wenhua Grand prizes, the highest governmental award in the field of professional stage performance.

Having built a good reputation at home and abroad, the company now tries to harvest its overseas audiences through integrating the features of Chinese and foreign traditional dances.
The dance drama Red-crowned Crane, a representative work of the company, added an international version in 2016. With the participation of Canadian artists, the International 'Red-crowned Crane' went on a tour to Washington and New York as well as seven cities in Canada.
The company has also been invited to present cultural exchange activities and performances in more than 30 countries, including Germany, Switzerland, Russia and France, receiving good reviews and making many fans.
This year is the 60th anniversary of its establishment, which coincides with the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening up policy and the 5th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative.
In celebration of these events, the company introduced a dance drama named Nan Guo Hong Dou (red beans grown in South China), which tells a transnational love story of a Cambodian girl and a Chinese engineer to show the close relationship between China and Belt and Road countries.
