Fresh vegetables, fruits and meat from Chaoyang Farmers' Market in Wuxi city are now available online through the "Chao Yang Dao Jia" app.

The market, located in downtown Wuxi city, East China's Jiangsu province, is the most comprehensive busiest farmer's market in the city. Its daily trading volume of vegetables can reach 1 million tons.

It was selected as one of the pilot enterprises of supply chain innovation and application by the Ministry of Commerce in 2018 and became a focus in transformation of smart farmers' markets.

Over 6,000 citizens have enjoyed the new way of buying products from the traditional market through the WeChat platform and given rave reviews.

The newly-launched app provides 855 vegetables, meat, and aquatic products, including fruits, cereals and oils. Users can choose their purchases and arrival time online, with a delivery fee of 5 yuan ($0.74) within 4 kilograms and an additional 1 yuan per kilogram within the urban area.

They can also check each product's "identity card" on the app, where sources and transportation processes can be confirmed.

"Citizens can get products through the app and be eligible for the same offline prizes. And discounts are sometimes available," said Hua Yan, manager of Chaoyang Farmers' Market.

"As the most popular traditional commercial and retail center, a large stream of people often creates a crowd here. The app is supposed to be the solution."
