Wuxi residents can check out agricultural products from Haidong, a city in Northwest China's Qinghai province, at the Wuxi Civic Center. They are also available for purchase online.
The showroom opened on Nov 11. It features black garlic, highland beef, mutton, black wolfberry, and highland barley wine.
In addition, a government delegation led by Haidong Party Secretary Niao Chengyun paid a two-day visit to Wuxi to promote cooperation between the two cities.
Niao was pleased to find that Haidong's agriculture products had been well-received in Wuxi. He encouraged people from Wuxi to visit Haidong and enjoy its beautiful highland scenery and delicious food.
Niao also thanked Wuxi for the long-term poverty alleviation support it has provided to Haidong. Wuxi has been helping Haidong eliminate poverty since the end of 2016.
In addition, a total of 160 projects worth 503 million yuan ($71.2 million) have been carried in Haidong to attract investment and talent.
By the end of 2018, the number of people in poverty in Haidong had declined from 175,700 in 2015 to 21,000.
Wuxi Party Secretary Li Xiaomin noted that Wuxi will continue helping Haidong eliminate poverty. He told all departments to carry out all projects as required.
The Hainan delegation also visited the Wuxi Internet of Things Innovation Promotion Center, Wuxi Huayang Rolling Bearing Co, Hongshan IoT Town, and Hongshan Relics Museum. Some members of the delegation said they were inspired by Wuxi's high level of development.
