Noticeable improvements in the living environment can be seen throughout Wuxi's Xishan district, which is in the process of giving a modern makeover to its roads, bus stations, walking paths, and distribution boxes.
Xishan district, the first national ecological civilization construction demonstration area in Wuxi, is known for industries such as electronic information and electric vehicles. It also enjoys a rich cultural and natural heritage thanks to its beautiful countryside, including the towns of Shanlian and Doushan.
The district has developed a special logo for itself depicting lattice patterns used in ancient times in the Jiangnan area.

Ma Xianming, planning director of the Southern Yangtze University Design Communication Group, took part in the district's restoration work in May 2019. Ma's company spent over two months researching the district before coming up with an overall plan to make it more visually pleasing.
"Its residents may feel a stronger sense of belonging due to the district's unique characteristics," said Ma.
The new bus stations recently introduced in the district are equipped with intelligent display screens, and passengers can make inquiries and learn about the district through a touchscreen.
According to officials, street signs and entrances throughout the district will be updated next.
