Xin Changxing, deputy to the Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress and secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, joined the Wuxi delegation on Feb 3 to review the government work report during the fifth session of the 14th Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress in Nanjing.
Xin listened to the delegates' speeches and engaged in meaningful exchanges with them. He highlighted that over the past five years, Wuxi has achieved significant progress in high-quality development, contributing substantially to the province's overall growth. In 2025, the city's regional GDP reached approximately 1.68 trillion yuan ($242.27 billion), reflecting a year-on-year growth of 5.1 percent at constant prices.
As we enter the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30), Xin highlighted the need for Wuxi to foster high-quality, sustainable growth. The city should aim for holistic progress in its industrial system, emphasizing the real economy and maintaining a balanced manufacturing sector.
Wuxi must continue its efforts to manage Taihu Lake and accelerate the comprehensive green transformation of its economic and social development. Additionally, the city should take decisive steps towards achieving common prosperity for all, enhancing residents' incomes, and safeguarding and improving people's livelihoods. Special attention should be given to supporting disadvantaged groups to better fulfill the public's expectations for a better life.
