The Plum Garden in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, reopened on Feb 4 after a two-week closure for upgrades, welcoming a steady stream of visitors eager to admire the plum blossoms on its first day back in the public eye.
The reopening showcases three major highlights: The revitalization of the northern and southern gardens, enchanting snow scenery, and immersive day-night tours. Together, these elements create a captivating experience that blends classical gardens with a winter wonderland ambiance and romantic light displays.
The landscape enhancements in the northern and southern gardens took several months to complete, during which 11 themed plum blossom avenues were established with the addition of over 1,000 rare plum trees. The garden's plum blossom viewing routes are now fully interconnected, offering a dynamic visual experience with every step.

Currently, the wintersweets are in their prime viewing period, with over 50 varieties displaying golden blooms and a subtle fragrance wafting through the air. The peak blooming period for the plum blossoms is expected to arrive in mid- to late-February, when over 10,000 plum and wintersweet trees will present a dazzling display of two plum blossom shades for the first time.
The newly unveiled Ice and Snow Park has quickly become a favorite attraction within the Plum Garden. Covered in pristine snow and equipped with various fun facilities, it offers children and adults the chance to unwind and enjoy the unique combination of admiring plum blossoms and playing in the snow.

The Plum Garden's day-night tour activities will commence on Feb 14. Daytime activities will highlight traditional Chinese New Year festivities, featuring stilt-walking peddler parades in the northern garden and lion dance celebrations along with traditional magic shows in the southern garden. Themed parades will also take place, with a special "Fortune, Prosperity, Longevity, Happiness, and Wealth" parade on the fifth day of the first lunar month, which falls on Feb 21 this year, where visitors can participate and win prizes.
Nighttime activities will continue until March 3, transforming the southern garden into a dreamlike lightscape with performances such as water sleeve dances and drum dances. The Dutch Square will host Chinese-style performances and a fire-breathing bench dragon dance, all enhanced by a backdrop of fireworks.
Please note: Visitors who have purchased tickets for the Ice and Snow Park will still need to buy separate tickets for entry to the Plum Garden.
