The Wuxi delegation to the fifth session of the 14th Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress convened in Nanjing on Feb 4.
They reviewed the government work report and examined the draft outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30), along with related plans and budget reports.
They also deliberated over drafts addressing the promotion of the private economy and the quality and safety of agricultural products.
A key topic of discussion among the delegates was how Jiangsu can lead in integrating technological and industrial innovation. Delegate Chen Dapeng, from the research sector, emphasized that fostering deep integration requires addressing real industry challenges with robust policy support. He also advocated building a self-sufficient ecosystem for key technologies and core components, focusing efforts on resolving common technical hurdles.
Delegate Pu Yilong, representing the manufacturing sector, highlighted Jiangsu's status as a manufacturing and industrial powerhouse. He proposed capitalizing on the unique advantages of high-end manufacturing clusters, particularly in nuclear fusion equipment, to establish a complete industrial chain, from raw materials to core components, main equipment manufacturing, and end applications, thereby supporting high-quality development with clean energy.
"The provincial government work report's emphasis on 'investing in people' and building youth communities that 'truly understand young people' deeply resonated with me," said Delegate Zhu Zhuojun, from the education sector. He emphasized the importance of cultivating high-quality, innovative talent by developing first-class courses, textbooks, practical projects, and teaching teams. Zhu suggested forming a new ecosystem of school-enterprise collaboration among high-tech enterprises, universities, research institutes, and high schools, encouraging capable entities to support student research and learning.
