Wuxi in Jiangsu province made a significant impact at the first Shanghai Commercial Aerospace Conference and Exhibition on March 12, which attracted over 300 enterprises from across the aerospace industry value chain.
A representative from Wuxi's bureau of industry and information technology emphasized the city's strategic focus on commercial aerospace sector as a key driver for future economic success, clearly outlining its ambitions and confidence during the main forum.
Data presented during the speech underscored Wuxi's robust foundation in this cutting-edge sector. By the end of 2025, the city had attracted 52 sizable commercial aerospace enterprises, achieving a year-on-year operating revenue growth of 12.9 percent.
Notably, Liangxi district's aerospace industry was designated as a pilot for future industry clustering development in Jiangsu, distinguishing it as the sole such pilot area in the province.
This emphasis on aerospace was further reinforced by the strong representation of Wuxi enterprises at the exhibition. The seven participating companies span the entire spectrum from satellite manufacturing to core components and special materials, showcasing the completeness and competitiveness of Wuxi's industrial cluster.
Recognized as a "new emerging pillar industry" in the Government Work Report, Wuxi has responded swiftly to seize this opportunity.
Looking towards the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30), the city has targeted commercial aerospace, establishing a development system led by independent constellations, grounded in super manufacturing, and centered on low-cost, recoverable capabilities.
Wuxi's goal is to build a national-level industrial cluster that encompasses the entire "rocket-satellite-data-application" chain, achieving a manufacturing capacity of "hundreds of rockets and thousands of satellites," and advancing the industry's scale toward a trillion-yuan level.
