I am Abdelaziz Elbarbary, an assistant lecturer in Food and Dairy Science at Benha University, one of the most prestigious universities in Egypt and Africa.
I come from Egypt — the land of ancient pyramids and a cradle of human civilization. We have traveled all that distance, from that very cradle to Wuxi — a city of science and beauty, renowned for its illustrious history as one of the birthplaces of Chinese civilization.

I arrived in Wuxi carrying high hopes and strong ambitions for learning and scientific research, but what I discovered was quite different — wondrous and inspiring. This charming city surprised me with its delicate beauty and hidden treasures. Beyond my research interests, I engaged deeply with life here — visiting parks, volunteering in community activities, and building a strong sense of belonging to this vibrant place.
Academically, Jiangnan University provided me with an excellent opportunity to work and grow.

Over the past 2 years, I have published 19 scientific papers in reputable, internationally recognized journals, including Food Research International, Food Bioscience and International Dairy Journal. These journals are some of the most respected in the field of Food Science and Technology.
In addition to publishing, I have become a reviewer for many prestigious journals published by leading publishers, including Elsevier, Wiley, Taylor & Francis and Springer Nature. Among these are highly regarded journals like Food Chemistry, Food Research International, and Food and Bioprocess Technology.
My work made me the most prolific researcher connecting Jiangnan University and Benha University within just two years, with joint research published across multiple fields.
If the journey ended here, it would already be remarkable, but it did not.
The full picture came together through Professor Wang Xingguo's unwavering support. He treated me as a trusted collaborator, guiding my research with patience and care. My teammates became brothers and sisters — sharing meals, laughter and dreams. They celebrated my victories and lifted me during difficult times, reminding me that science is never a solitary journey.

Wuxi embraced us warmly. The city opened its parks and markets to us, creating spaces where Professor Wang, my teammates and I could bond. Wuxi also brought us together through community volunteering, turning strangers into family. In this nurturing city, I grew from an anxious researcher into a confident team member. Wuxi gave me not just a laboratory, but a home — and our story together is only just beginning.
From an Egyptian family in Egypt to the beautiful city of Wuxi and the prestigious Jiangnan University, we have found a new home and something to love deeply. And we believe that the story still has more to come.
