Wuxi's Xishan district hosted a promotion and matchmaking event on April 16 during the 139th China Import and Export Fair, known as the Canton Fair, in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, to propel its two-wheeled electric vehicle brands onto the global stage.

The event attracted nearly 40 international buyers from 15 countries and regions, including Colombia, Brazil and Indonesia, who gathered to unveil procurement lists and sign international cooperation memoranda. Leading companies like Yadea and Sunra secured intent orders totaling over $10 million.

A notable highlight of the event was the Kawan Lama Group from Indonesia, which unveiled its procurement list. As one of the largest diversified retail groups in Indonesia, Kawan Lama operates hundreds of stores across dozens of cities.

"We are highly optimistic about the two-wheeled electric vehicle market," said William Widjaja, procurement director of Kawan Lama Group. "This year, we plan to significantly increase our sourcing of electric bicycles, electric motorcycles and core components, collaborating with Chinese manufacturers to explore new market opportunities."

This year's Canton Fair featured 101 companies from Xishan district, including 45 that specialize in two-wheeled electric vehicles and parts. These companies secured 102 professional exhibition booths, which accounted for 46.2 percent of the district's total booth allocation and 80.3 percent of Wuxi's booth count for two-wheeler manufacturers, making it the largest and most competitive segment from Xishan at the fair.

As globalization intensifies, Xishan is accelerating the development of a global marketing network. The district has established a comprehensive overseas ecosystem encompassing research, production, supply, sales and service, with over 4,000 sales outlets across 49 countries and regions.

In addition, Xishan has invested in 17 production bases across nine countries, including the Philippines and Indonesia, and established 29 overseas warehouses in 17 countries and regions, such as the United States and Australia.

In 2025, the export value of Xishan district's electric vehicle industry reached $820 million, marking a year-on-year increase of 35.7 percent. The electric vehicle industry cluster, which consists of 166 enterprises above the designated size, achieved total operating revenue exceeding 80.16 billion yuan ($11.75 billion) in the same year, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 21.1 percent, becoming Xishan's first industry cluster to surpass 80 billion yuan in annual operating revenue.
