The 2026 Grand Canal Cultural Belt City Dragon Boat Invitational launched at the Tangping Lake Water Sports Center in Yuqi subdistrict, Huishan district, Wuxi, Jiangsu province on June 14, bringing together 20 elite dragon boat teams from six cities along the Grand Canal.
In a thrilling finale, the Yuqi Dragon Boat Team emerged victorious, presenting their exceptional skills to the audience. What sets this winning team apart? Established in 2021, the Yuqi Dragon Boat Team is home to over 20 members, including employees from local enterprises and institutions, sports teachers, and fitness enthusiasts, covering both young and middle-aged groups. Each member of the team dedicates their spare time to rigorous preparation ahead of the competition.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, a lively market was set up during the dragon boat race, featuring a variety of stalls offering food, cultural creations, and interactive experiences for visitors to enjoy.
In recent years, Huishan district has taken advantage of Tangping Lake's scenic waters to host numerous dragon boat races. Additionally, the district has organized a range of events, such as the Grand Canal Cultural Belt Dragon Dance Elite Competition and paddleboard races, further enriching the area's cultural and sporting landscape.
