State Minister for Commerce, Industry, Textiles, and Jute of Bangladesh Khandaker Abdul Muktadir expressed a strong desire to deepen cooperation with China in education and technology.
During a June 13 meeting with Wu Zhengguo, Party secretary of Jiangnan University in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, Muktadir praised the university's academic excellence and research achievements in the textile and light industries. He also highlighted the growth potential of Bangladesh's jute and leather industries.
Wu noted that Bangladesh is the world's largest producer of jute, playing a pivotal role in the global jute textile industry. He expressed optimism that both countries could leverage jute fibers as a foundation for collaboration, fostering joint research and talent development, and working together to advance a sustainable global textile supply chain.

On the same day, a dedicated industrial technology exchange meeting took place. Participants unanimously agreed on the importance of focusing on technology transfer, establishing joint laboratories, and co-cultivating talent to unlock the full potential of their cooperation.
Experts from Chinese research institutions and universities delivered presentations outlining the current status and technological advancements in China's leather industry. They shared insights into the transfer of jute processing technology between China and Bangladesh, along with strategies for effective collaboration.
The delegation also engaged with Bangladeshi students at the university and toured its engineering research center and ethnic costume heritage museum.
Beyond academic exchanges, the visit included field research at several leading textile enterprises in Wuxi, effectively establishing a collaborative network among universities, research institutions, local businesses, and the Bangladeshi industry.
