Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province has started preparations for 2027 Salzburg China Day · International Choral Arts Week, with the main event in the city set to kick off on Oct 16.
A press conference for the event was held in the city on June 30, coinciding with the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Austria and the 270th birthday of Austrian composer Wolfgang Mozart.
An event plan for this event was officially launched at the press conference. It was announced that preparations for recruiting choral teams nationwide had begun, setting the stage for the main events in Wuxi.
The event, a high-profile cultural exchange recognized by both Chinese and Austrian authorities, aims to establish a long-term platform for Sino-European cultural exchange and foster mutual understanding through choral arts.

Chen Yong, deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Culture Administration Association, elaborated on the project at the press conference, emphasizing its significance as a major international choral arts exchange.
Wuxi, named a UNESCO City of Music in 2025, and Salzburg, Mozart's birthplace, both represent rich musical traditions, making them ideal partners for cultural dialogue.
By combining music with tourism, Wuxi aims to enhance its cultural brand, boost local arts, and expand international exchanges to solidify its status as a global music hub.
