The first batch of this year's Yangshan honey peaches was packed and shipped from Yangshan town in Wuxi on July 10, bound for Singapore.

The dispatch marks the official start of the 2026 export season for the prized stone fruit, a regional specialty with protected geographical indication status in China.

Grown in the mineral-rich soil and humid microclimate, the Yangshan peaches are known for their large size, thin skin, fragrant aroma, and exceptionally juicy flesh — qualities that have earned them a loyal following.

The shipment, sourced from Wuxi Taihu Yangshan Peach Technology, consists entirely of the premium White Phoenix, or Baifeng, variety.

"Singaporean buyers have shown strong confidence in our peaches, with orders largely confirmed since the beginning of the year," said Shen Liu, deputy general manager of the company. "This White Phoenix batch is just the advance wave. We expect to send out one to two shipments per week going forward, roughly 1,000 boxes each."

Shen added that overall export momentum is robust for 2026. Beyond Singapore, the company has expanded into Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand, and is actively courting distributors in the Middle East. Total exports for the year are projected to approach 10,000 boxes, representing year-on-year growth of 10 to 20 percent.

Given the fruit's delicate flesh and shelf life of just three to five days, time is critical. To meet that challenge, local customs authorities have rolled out a dedicated express clearance channel for peach exports.

"We've set up a round‑the‑clock appointment-based inspection system, so companies can schedule checks flexibly around their harvesting, packing, and flight schedules," said Xu Ranxia, head of the comprehensive business section at Wuxi Customs' Xishan office. Inspection and quarantine certificates are issued digitally within hours, ensuring the fruit reaches shelves overseas at peak freshness.

Meanwhile, a parallel development is bolstering the brand's international reach. The Taoyuan Renjia Peach Cooperative in Yangshan recently secured the Hong Kong Certification Centre's "STC certified" Mark — a recognized seal of quality that not only opens doors to high-end supermarket chains in Hong Kong but is also mutually accepted in 53 countries and regions worldwide, helping the cooperative sidestep potential non-tariff barriers in new markets.
