Six enterprise-led laboratories in Wuxi have been placed on Jiangsu province's latest list of provincial-level key research facilities, the second-highest number among all cities in the province, according to an announcement by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Science and Technology on July 11.
The selected labs span emerging and future-oriented fields including integrated circuits, intelligent robotics, embodied intelligence and 6G communications. They are led respectively by JCET Group, MagicLab Robotics Technology (Wuxi), Miracle Automation Engineering, Hikvision Wuxi, Chipown, and Wuxi Taclink Optoelectronics Technology.
The labs will undergo a two-year preparation period before formal accreditation. Those that pass the evaluation will be fully integrated into the provincial key laboratory system.
The six Wuxi facilities are distributed across the city's districts and county-level cities, each with a distinct technological focus.
MagicLab's lab, based in Liangxi district, concentrates on embodied robotics for public safety, with applications in patrol, emergency response and complex-scenario operations.
In the Wuxi National High-Tech District (WND), Hikvision Wuxi leads a lab on micro-specialty embodied intelligence, co-established with Nanjing University and Harbin Institute of Technology's Suzhou institute.
In Huishan district, Miracle Automation heads a lab focused on industrial embodied intelligence, partnering with Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Jiangnan University. The lab will use Miracle's 40-year track record in automotive manufacturing and an 8,000-square-meter real-world test site to tackle bottlenecks in data, algorithms and commercial deployment.
For next-generation communications, Taclink, also in the WND, leads the 6G optical bearer technology lab, working with Nanjing University and Nanjing University of Science and Technology.
JCET, based in Jiangyin, heads a lab on high-density optical and electrical microsystems integration, co-established with its subsidiary and Southeast University. A sixth lab, led by Chipown, focuses on power management chip technologies, rounding out Wuxi's portfolio in both future frontiers and mature semiconductor applications.
