The sixth Canal Cities Model United Nations Conference and the Global Citizen MUN China Conference opened on July 24 in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, drawing nearly 700 students and teachers from China, the United States, Europe and Southeast Asia.
The four-day event marks the largest gathering in the conference's history in terms of both attendance and international reach. Local organizers include Window of Philadelphia, with backing from the foreign affairs office and the education bureau of Wuxi municipal government.
Following the opening ceremony, dozens of school principals and educators from home and abroad took part in a seminar about AI-empowered educational innovation and talent development in the new era. They discussed topics including classroom innovation, teacher development, student assessment reform and the integration of international resources.
In these four days, participants followed UN parliamentary procedures to debate issues including global AI governance, climate change, sustainable development and digital equity. International delegates also toured Wuxi's cultural landmarks and technology hubs to gain a firsthand view of the city's development.
