Wuxi is preparing to host its fourth annual Integrated Circuit Innovation and Development Conference on Aug 31, as the Chinese city continues to cement its role as a semiconductor powerhouse.
The event comes on the heels of robust first-half results. From January to June, 376 local IC companies above designated size generated 130.8 billion yuan ($19.40 billion) in revenue, up 16.3 percent year-on-year, with AI computing demand as the main driver.
Four Wuxi-based chip firms went public during the period, bringing the city's total listed IC companies to 20. Among them, SJ Semiconductor and CR Micro have each surpassed the 100 billion yuan market capitalization mark.
In 2025, Wuxi's IC sector posted output of 285.86 billion yuan, with more than 600 companies in local operation, including 76 State-level "little giant" firms. The city ranked third among Chinese cities in the 2025 global IC industry competitiveness rankings.
Investment momentum remains strong, with three 10 billion yuan projects secured this year alone. As of today, 51 IC and optoelectronics projects with individual investments exceeding 500 million yuan are under construction, representing total commitments of over 180 billion yuan.
Wuxi's ecosystem features the country's only national-level advanced packaging and testing innovation center, two major industry platforms and eight specialized IC parks operating under distinct strategies.
As the conference approaches, Wuxi is signaling its continued commitment to semiconductor development, backed by solid growth and sustained investment.
