A manufacturing company in Yixing, a county-level city under the administration of Wuxi, has landed a major production contract for SpaceX's Starlink satellite constellation, marking a significant entry into the global commercial aerospace supply chain.
Jitai Electronics, based in the town of Dingshu, has commenced volume production of high-power laser packaging housings that are designed for the Starlink project. The company's first mass-production order totals more than 13,000 units.
The component serves as a core part of inter-satellite laser communications, the technology that enables Starlink satellites to relay data directly between one another in orbit.
The company began positioning itself for the Starlink opportunity two years ago, proactively engaging with supply chain partners for the SpaceX project and dedicating resources to developing components tailored to Starlink satellite specifications.
Founded in 1998, Jitai Electronics has long specialized in the research, development and production of integrated circuit packaging housings, with products exported to more than 20 countries and regions across the aerospace, defense, electronics and optical communications sectors.
Beyond its Starlink milestone, Jitai has been advancing multiple technological fronts through partnerships with Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Nanjing University of Science and Technology, focusing on areas including ceramic packages for transmit/receive modules and high-voltage-resistant ceramic packaging materials.
In recent days, the company has achieved breakthroughs in high-voltage-resistant ceramic sidewall encapsulation materials and developed an in-house metal cover trimming apparatus that improves both production efficiency and machining precision.
