Guangzhou-based 9Air, a low-budget airline, is set to resume its direct passenger service between Wuxi Shuofang Airport and Vientiane, the capital of Laos, on Oct 9.
The route, operating under flight numbers AQ1233 and AQ1234, is scheduled to run three times weekly on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
Flight AQ1233 departs Wuxi at 11:20 am and arrives in Vientiane at 2 pm. The return flight, AQ1234, leaves Vientiane at 3 pm and lands in Wuxi at 7:25 pm.
A spokesperson from 9Air's marketing department said the airline initially launched the route last year but suspended operations due to rising fuel costs. The decision to resume the service was driven by a combination of factors: oil prices have since declined, the winter-spring period is the peak tourist season for Laos, and there has been growing trade activity between cities in the Yangtze River Delta region and Laos.
Laos welcomes travelers during the cool, dry season from November through February, when temperatures are moderate and road conditions are favorable.
The Wuxi–Vientiane link is one of the international and regional passenger routes currently operating from Wuxi Shuofang Airport, which also connects to destinations including Osaka, Seoul, Jeju, Nha Trang, and Sihanoukville.
