For young people arriving in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, finding a place to live can be the first step toward building a career and settling into the city. Youth Commune in Xin'an subdistrict, Xinwu district, offers accommodation and services designed to make that transition easier.
The community has five serviced apartment buildings with 1,208 units and around 1,200 young residents. More than 90 percent were born in or after 1985, and over 65 percent hold bachelor's degrees or higher.

Su Rui, who relocated from Anhui province, has lived there for more than two years. Convenient commuting, well-equipped facilities and transparent rental fees convinced him to renew his lease.
Since 2022, the community has also offered free accommodation for seven to 14 days to recent graduates from outside Wuxi who come to the city to seek jobs. The program has 40 beds, helping young job seekers manage living costs while looking for work.
In 2025, the community opened an employment guidance station providing career counseling, skills training and startup support. Residents can also use shared kitchens, fitness facilities and a presentation hall, attend evening classes and enjoy discounts at 10 partner businesses.

The initiative aligns with Jiangsu province's newly released 21 measures to develop communities of young people, in what the province describes as China's first systematic provincial-level policy of its kind.
With more than 20 million young people, Jiangsu aims to help them find housing, build careers and put down roots. Wuxi plans to further develop youth communities, making the city a more attractive place for young talent to live and work.
