As German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier visits China from Oct 27 to 31, Wuxi is strengthening its ties with German businesses, with a growing number of companies expanding their operations and investing in advanced manufacturing.
A recent example is Vibracoustic, a Germany-based automotive noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) solutions specialist, which recently opened an expanded air spring manufacturing facility in Wuxi National Hi-Tech District.
The 300 million yuan ($44.98 million) project plans to establish six production lines, two of which are already operational. Its products are being supplied to leading Chinese new energy vehicle brands. Since entering Wuxi in 2004, Vibracoustic has established a regional headquarters and four factories in the city, contributing more than 1 billion yuan in taxes.
Other German companies are also expanding their presence in Wuxi. Bosch has established a hydrogen fuel cell center and an innovation and software development center in the city, while Infineon is upgrading automation and local production capabilities at its semiconductor base. German companies are also investing in high-end motors, automotive components and hydrogen storage technologies.

The partnership dates back to 1987, when businesses from Bocholt, Germany, signed cooperation agreements with four local companies in Jiangyin, a county-level city of Wuxi, marking an early milestone in bilateral industrial collaboration.
Beyond business, cultural exchanges are bringing the two sides closer. During its 2026 European tour, the Wuxi Chinese Orchestra performed at major concert venues in Germany, introducing audiences to traditional Chinese music.
From advanced manufacturing to cultural exchange, Wuxi and Germany continue to deepen their partnership, creating new opportunities for shared growth.
