Tesla executives visited Wuxi, Jiangsu province, on Nov 1 for talks on expanding cooperation, with both sides looking to tap new opportunities in artificial intelligence (AI), smart mobility and emerging industries.
Jiang Feng, Party secretary of Wuxi, and Cai Jianfeng, acting mayor, met with a delegation led by Tao Lin, Tesla's global vice-president, on Nov 1.
Jiang and Cai expressed appreciation for Tesla's continued investment and support in Wuxi, saying the company's development priorities closely align with the city's ambitions in the Internet of Things (IoT) and AI.
Wuxi is accelerating efforts to integrate the two technologies and advance emerging sectors such as connected vehicles and embodied AI. The city hopes to build on its existing industrial strengths to establish a world-class IoT industry cluster and become a leading hub for AI applications.
Local officials said they look forward to expanded cooperation in areas including new consumer markets and intelligent driving, while further developing the existing partnership. Wuxi also pledged to continue improving its business environment and provide stronger support for foreign-invested companies.
Tao said Tesla's business in Wuxi was gaining momentum and that the company remained confident in the city's prospects. She said Tesla would continue to make Wuxi a key focus of its regional development strategy and deepen cooperation with local partners across industrial, supply and innovation chains.
