Wuxi is making its ninth consecutive appearance at the China International Import Expo (CIIE), but its role is no longer simply that of a buyer.
The ninth CIIE opened in Shanghai on Nov 5, bringing together participants from 162 countries, regions and international organizations, as well as 4,142 overseas companies. More than 480 products are making their global, Asian or Chinese debuts.
One of the highlights for Wuxi at the expo is the debut of GE HealthCare's LOGIQ Vita, an AI-powered ultrasound system. This system was developed and manufactured at GE HealthCare's Wuxi facility and features AI-assisted tools that cover more than 60 percent of routine clinical applications.
The Wuxi facility is a significant player in ultrasound production, producing more than 14,000 ultrasound systems annually. It accounts for over 60 percent of the company's global ultrasound probe production and 40 percent of its ultrasound systems, establishing it as GE HealthCare's largest ultrasound manufacturing site worldwide.
In addition to showcasing technology, Wuxi is also here to source advanced technology. The CIIE delegation from Wuxi comprises 476 companies and institutions, with more than 3,000 professional visitors. Technical equipment accounts for half of the delegation's intended purchases.
Shipbuilder CSSC Chengxi Shipyard is seeking advanced power and unloading systems, while Jiangsu Suhao Tianpeng Agricultural Products Group has assembled a dedicated team to explore opportunities in agricultural products, cold-chain logistics and food processing.

Beyond industry and trade, Wuxi is exhibiting its cultural heritage alongside emerging technology. Traditional crafts such as Yixing purple clay pottery and Huishan clay figurines share the spotlight with a music speaker developed by local tech company Wuxi Future Mirror Display Technology. The product transforms song lyrics into dynamic visual effects, with annual sales of both models exceeding 100 million yuan ($14.99 million).
From advanced manufacturing and global sourcing to cultural exchange, Wuxi's ninth CIIE visit reflects its growing role in international trade — not just as a buyer, but also as an innovator and a partner in global business.
