A delegation from Shenzhen Airlines recently visited Wuxi to deepen cooperation.
Wuxi Mayor Huang Qin welcomed the delegation led by Chen Zhiyong, chairman of Shenzhen Airlines and its Party Secretary Zhou Zhiwei.
According to Huang, Shenzhen Airlines was the first airline to open flights in Wuxi Sunan International Airport. Its passenger and cargo throughput reached 17.37 million and 32,000 tons.
Wuxi Sunan International Airport was mentioned in a recently released master plan for the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region, which will put forward strong measures to elevate the region's opening-up across sectors such as manufacturing, finance and services.
According to the plan, the airport is expected to be promoted into a regional hub airport in Yangtze River Delta region. Cooperating with Shenzhen Airlines, the government will give full support to the airport's development, Huang said.
Chen Zhiyong was also bullish on the development of Wuxi airport, saying his company is willing to increase cooperation and offer more support to the airport.
