The Taihu Show Theatre, which was selected as "the most anticipated building set to shape the world in 2019" by CNN, is set to open on Dec 22.
Located near Taihu Lake in Jiangsu province, the Wuxi Taihu Show Theatre was inspired by the Sea of Bamboo Park in Yixing, the largest bamboo forest in China. At night, the building is illuminated from below, becoming an ethereal structure nestled between many "bamboo" columns.

The 2,000-seat theater, covering an area of 34,500 square meters, was designed to house a permanent water show by Franco Dragone and a dance drama called the Taihu Show.
The dance drama is based on a romantic legend about Fan Li, a minister of the Yue State during the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 BC), and Xi Shi, a classic beauty, who lived a secluded life near Taihu Lake after they helped the king of the Yue State conquer the Wu State.
The 60-minute show will be held on a 360-degree revolving stage, which uses advanced technology to make audiences feel more involved in the show.
The Taihu Show Theatre is expected to attract more visitors to nighttime tours of Wuxi. Ticket prices range from 120 yuan ($17) to 350 yuan per person.
