Two Wuxi doctors have been busy disinfecting the industrial park in Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone in Cambodia and checking the conditions of workers there during the Spring Festival.
Cambodia confirmed the first case of novel coronavirus on Jan 27.
According to Cambodian Health Minister Mam Bunheng, the 60-year-old Chinese patient, along with his three family members, arrived in southwestern Cambodia's Preah Sihanouk province on Jan 23 by a direct flight from Wuhan to Preah Sihanouk province -- and he showed the symptoms of a fever and runny nose on Jan 25.
The patient was placed in a quarantine room at the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Hospital.
Officials said epidemic prevention subsequently became the most important and urgent task in Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone.
The two doctors from Wuxi Municipal Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital are working to survey workers and deliver related information and knowledge to prevent the disease.
Taking advantage of Traditional Chinese Medicine, they also provide moxibustion treatment to workers there to help improve their immunity.
In a televised speech on Jan 30, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen called on the people of the Southeast Asian nation to stay calm in dealing with the outbreak, the country's NICE TV reported.
Saying his country will not suspend flights from China for now, Hun Sen cited friendship with China. The leader said Cambodia stood alongside the Chinese people in fighting the contagion.
