Shanghai University will build its Wuxi Institute of Industry in the Wuxi Economic and Development Zone, according to a deal signed on May 25.
Sponsored by the Wuxi Municipal People's Government, the government of the Wuxi Economic and Development Zone, and Shanghai University, the new institute will focus on industry-university-institute cooperation in key areas such as graphene, new materials, environmental protection, and the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region.
Wuxi Party Sectary Huang Qin attended the signing ceremony and was optimistic about the new institute. He said that Wuxi and Shanghai University have cooperated on over 20 projects since 2007 and have been promoting innovation in many high-tech industries. Huang hoped that more groundbreaking projects would be pursued by the two parties.
Cheng Danhong, Party sectary of Shanghai University, said the new institute will benefit from contributions by both parties and lead to more cooperation with more enterprises and industries in Wuxi.
