Ouyang Hua, a deputy to the 13th National People's Congress, China's top legislature, and Party secretary of Baita village in Yixing, has called in a recent proposal for the use of natural resources to promote rural revitalization.
According to the Government Report on the third session of the 13th National People's Congress, the government will work to bolster agricultural production, create more channels for rural residents to find employment and increase their incomes and continue to promote both poverty alleviation and rural revitalization.
Ouyang said that a good ecological environment is the basis for the development of rural industries. To achieve rural revitalization, ecology, culture and industry should be built as a systematic project.
This year, Baita town will build a 1.7-kilometer-long walking path along about 760 hectares of flower fields. The town's people and officials will continue to make it more beautiful and attractive.
According to Ouyang, cultural revitalization plays an important role in developing rural areas. Baita town will work to build a micro-film base for visitors to spend more time there enjoying rural life as the protagonist of their own films.
How to make use of the internet and new media to achieve rural revitalization is another major focus for Ouyang. He said that with young people being the driving force behind development, Baita town was promoted on its Douyin account. With the help of internet platforms, the sales of agricultural products exceeded 10 million yuan ($1.4 million) in 2019.
Ouyang proposed construction of rural e-commerce platforms and logistics express outlets to promote local life and provide more jobs in the countryside.
