Xu Yiping, a deputy to the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) and chairman of the Standing Committee of the Wuxi Municipal People's Congress, attended the Jiangsu delegation meeting at the third session of the 13th National People's Congress in Beijing on May 26.
After reading the country's government work report at the 13th National People's Congress, Xu noted that the Standing Committee of the Wuxi Municipal People's Congress will follow the country's overall situation and explore innovative ideas and measures to contribute to the NPC's goals and accomplish the tasks set for this year.
Xu said that as this year is the final year of China's goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, which was greatly disrupted by the COVID-19 epidemic, the NPC has set clear tasks to be carried out by the local People's Congress this year.
Xu added that the Standing Committee of the Wuxi Municipal People's Congress will work to introduce legislation to improve social governance, the environment, and people's livelihood, as well as improve the level of refinement and precision of local legislation.
In addition, it will strive to solve difficult problems related to reform and development and work with local residents to build a prosperous and charming Wuxi.
