Gao Yaguang, a member of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and deputy mayor of Wuxi, proposed efforts to bring about high-quality economic development during the nation's top political advisory body.
Gao proposed simplifying several outdated standards for manufacturing industries so that they can be more in line with current global trends.
According to Gao, about 87 percent of mandatory national standards had exceeded the standard validity period by March, 2020. These outdated standards for manufacturing industries are no longer conducive to the development of national industrial policies and technologies.
Gao suggested the country draft and revise standards under different classifications, and allow enterprises to take part in establishing the standards. In addition, China should work to apply advanced and applicable international standards to Chinese manufacturing industries and strive to upgrade and transform national standards in several advanced fields to be in line with international standards.
Gao added that relevant requirements in energy conservation, environmental protection, safety and health in the standards should also be improved to promote the quality and energy conservation efforts of the manufacturing sector.
After learning of the country's government work report saying the country will press ahead with reforms to streamline administration and delegate power, improve regulation, and upgrade services, Gao also advocated for Wuxi's economic development. She urged the integrated development of manufacturing industries and emerging industries in Wuxi.
