Wuxi boasts strong prospects for technological development, said Chen Wei, president of Jiangnan University and a deputy to the 14th National People's Congress, in an interview with Wuxi Daily on March 5.

The city is well-positioned to promote cross-regional cooperation, noted Chen, who suggested scientific cooperation between universities and research institutes in the Yangtze River Delta and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Wuxi has become the center of China's internet of things industry, and in 2022, the city's IoT industry was valued at 400 billion yuan ($57.37 billion), ranking first in Jiangsu, according to Chen.

He suggested further integration between intelligent urban infrastructure and data from intelligent connected vehicles, as well as the full utilization of such data by leading auto enterprises and urban operation service providers.

He also expects the country to support the construction of an intelligent sensor technology center in Wuxi.

Dedicated to the teaching and research of food microbiology, Chen also made a suggestion related to probiotics, including the categorization of relevant products and the establishment of national standards.
