The locally grown yellow peaches in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, are now in peak season.
A fully ripe yellow peach typically weighs over 300 grams, with some exceeding 500 grams. When chilled, the crisp flesh offers a firm and refreshing bite, delivering a perfect balance of sweet and tangy flavors. As the peaches ripen to about 80 to 90 percent, their flesh becomes soft, juicy, and richly aromatic, with a luscious texture that releases a burst of peach fragrance. Near the pit, a captivating red hue adds to their allure.
Surrounded by green mountains and flowing waters, Wuxi enjoys abundant sunlight and ample rainfall throughout the year, creating ideal conditions for growing yellow peaches.
In the orchards of Hongxiang Family Farm in Xishan district, golden yellow peaches hang heavily from the branches, filling the air with their sweet aroma. According to Lu Fengmei, the farm's manager, they have planted 40 to 50 mu (2.67 to 3.33 hectares) of yellow peaches this year, yielding a substantial harvest. They can pick 1,000 to 1,500 kilograms daily, with an expected total of over 35,000 kg this year.
This year, local yellow peaches are being harvested in large quantities in areas such as Taihua town, Zhangzhu town, and Baita village in Yixing, as well as Donggang and Xibei towns in Xishan district. The picking season will continue until around Aug 20.
