The Wuxi Symphony Orchestra began its 2025-26 music season with a concert at Wuxi Grand Theatre on Sept 13.
The concert was conducted by Lin Daye, artistic director and principal conductor of the orchestra. The performance was a profound musical dialogue with Beethoven's Egmont Overture and Symphony No 5.
The concert opened with the solemn and deeply emotional melodies of the Egmont Overture, moving from dark, heavy tones and bass-driven narratives that evoke themes of suffering and struggle, to moments of explosive orchestral energy that showcase the orchestra's power. The performance then reached a climax, with a majestic victory driven by the triumphant sound of the brass section, symbolizing victory and resilience.
In the second half, the iconic fate-knocking motif of Symphony No 5 suddenly echoed, instantly capturing the audience's hearts, and ended with a triumphant victory anthem.
The opening and closing pieces echoed the concert's theme of Fate and Renaissance, enabling the audience to feel the enduring hope and strength that music offers through Beethoven's stirring notes.
In the upcoming season, the Wuxi Symphony Orchestra has scheduled 28 concerts, working with over 30 leading conductors, musicians, and vocalists worldwide to keep the city vibrant with lively and inspiring melodies.
