The Jiangyin Museum was founded in 1988 at its original location in the Huangshan Mountain Scenic Area. It moved to a new building that opened in 2005.
The new three-story building is a modern facility. The first and second floors function as exhibition halls, including the Light of Civilization Hall, Stele Hall, Nature Hall, History Hall, Liu Brothers' Achievements Hall, Stone Carving Hall, Buddhist Hall, Bronze Collection Hall, and spaces for temporary exhibitions.
The collection reflects Jiangyin's history through a variety of artifacts: Neolithic pottery from the Majiabang and Songze cultures, jade objects from the Liangzhu culture, porcelain and lacquerware from the Song and Yuan dynasties (960-1368), and gold and silver items from the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). These pieces collectively symbolize a deep local cultural identity.
