The name "Zhong Reading Yard" is inspired by Qian Zhongshu, Wuxi's cultural icon, symbolizing dedication to books. Through the implementation of the "1+100+N" project – one municipal demonstration, 100 Zhong Reading Yards, and numerous reading stations – Wuxi has successfully established an extensive and well-planned reading network.
By organizing a series of themed reading activities such as reading promotions, public lectures, exhibitions, and performances, Wuxi has established a new pattern of urban reading life with Zhong Reading Yards. Relying on the 100 Zhong Reading Yards and public reading spaces, the city hosts reading festivals every summer.
