Southeast University inaugurated its College of Intelligent Science and Engineering in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, on Dec 27.
This newly established college is the second physical institution at SEU's Wuxi Campus, following the College of Integrated Circuits. It is a collaborative initiative between Southeast University and the Wuxi municipal government.
The college is dedicated to key objectives such as attracting and nurturing high-caliber faculty, driving technological innovation, and cultivating top-tier talent. It emphasizes interdisciplinary studies, prioritizes the transformation of research achievements into real-world applications, and aspires to build a world-class interdisciplinary group in intelligent sciences with international influence.
Supported by a high-level international team, the college has established seven research centers, including the Institute of Intelligent Materials and the Intelligent Science Research Center. These centers gather renowned scholars and national-level talents to conduct pioneering research in fields like intelligent science, smart transportation, future energy, communications and network security, electrical systems, and intelligent materials, aiming for groundbreaking results.
The centers will contribute to the development of Wuxi's key industries. For instance, the Perovskite Photovoltaics and Integrated Optoelectronics Research Institute focuses on the research of perovskite materials, interface engineering, and optoelectronic device integration. The institute has already formed close collaborations with leading enterprises in Wuxi and is set to propel the development and advancement of Wuxi's new energy industry.
Looking ahead, SEU's Wuxi Campus will enhance collaboration with various sectors in the city, integrating education, technology, and talent into an innovative chain. The establishment of the College of Intelligent Science and Engineering marks a pivotal opportunity to transform the Wuxi Campus into a new hub for interdisciplinary studies at SEU and a special zone for information disciplines, infusing Wuxi's development with stronger scientific and educational innovation.
