The Wuxi Chinese Orchestra will embark on a European tour from Feb 13 to 28, presenting seven concerts across Belgium, Germany, Austria and Hungary, as part of the national "Happy Chinese New Year" program.
More than 80 musicians will perform Jiangnan classics such as The Beauty of Taihu Lake and Jasmine Flower, as well as festive Chinese New Year tunes like Happiness. In partnership with Western musicians, the delegation is also set to present fusion renditions including The Blue Danube and the beloved Chinese work Horse Racing.
Beyond concert stages, the delegation will host a series of interactive events to foster deeper exchanges between Chinese and Western cultures.
In Brussels on Feb 13, musicians will perform at the city's famous Comic Strip Route, pairing Jiangnan melodies with iconic Belgian comic backdrops. In Austria, they will hold an Alpine music salon with local artists, engage in academic exchanges with the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, and establish a cultural exhibition.
Founded in 2020, the Wuxi Chinese Orchestra has already toured multiple countries with the aim of deepening cultural exchange. This tour marks a key moment in Wuxi's broader effort to share its musical heritage with the world — and to let global audiences experience the unique charm of this UNESCO-recognized City of Music.
