I ran my first marathon in 2011 and have participated in several over the years. This is my first time participating in the Wuxi Marathon.
The Wuxi Marathon's course is very beautiful. I especially liked running around Lihu Lake, under the arch by Baojie Bridge, and through the wetland park. The spectators cheered enthusiastically.

It was fun and motivating to high-five people along the sides of the road at various points. The aid stations were well-organized, and the volunteers seemed to be well-prepared. They were also quite friendly, smiling and saying words of encouragement to the runners.

I think one of the things that impressed me most during the race was how many people said "jia you" to me when we passed each other, or said other things to encourage other runners. There was a strong sense of camaraderie among the participants, as if we were all working together to do our best.
Wuxi is a smaller city that still has a lot to see and do. It has incredible natural beauty as well as a rich history.

Having spent some time in Wuxi before, but not having returned to visit in almost two years, it felt like a small homecoming of sorts to run through many familiar locations where I used to shop, commute or exercise in the past.

I would love to come back to Wuxi more often and perhaps run the race again someday!
Lucas Pfaffenroth has been running since age of 15 and loves exploring new places through the sport.
