IMVISION Innovation, a Chinese leader in on-device AI chip development, opened its national headquarters in Wuxi's Liangxi Sci-Tech City on Aug 18, which is set to serve as the company's primary operating base and its planned listing entity.
Founded in October 2024, the company has scaled from a startup to a potential unicorn at a rapid pace in just two years, with chip shipments reaching 5 million units in 2025 and on track to exceed 10 million units this year. Its products are now integrated into flagship devices from leading brands across smart cameras, smartphones, smart glasses and smart robotics.
The company's competitive edge lies in its full-stack in-house research and development capabilities. IMVISION is the first Chinese chipmaker to achieve mass production of on-device AI chips based on transformer and diffusion architectures designed for large models.
The company's rapid ascent coincides with a broader industry shift. As AI workloads migrate from cloud-centric architectures to distributed cloud-edge-device frameworks, on-device large models are gaining traction for their low latency, cost-effectiveness, data security and offline functionality.
Industry observers note that domestic substitution presents a significant opportunity for Chinese chipmakers in the premium on-device AI segment, where IMVISION is positioning itself to capture a growing market share.
