A government delegation headed by Li Xiaomin, Party chief of Wuxi municipal government, toured elderly care facilities in the city on Oct 9, as part of the Double Ninth Festival, a holiday for senior citizens.
While visiting a care home in Ma'anyuan residential area, Li met 102-year-old Qin Huizhen. Qin lives with her son-in-law after her only daughter passed away earlier in the year. Li enquired after her health and expressed his pride at the filial piety shown from child to parent.
The delegation also visited an under privileged family and gave a charitable donation on behalf of the government to improve their welfare.
The final stop of the delegation was an elderly care home in Binhu district where Li spoke highly of the great work and care of the nursing staff there.
Li pledged that the government will further enhance its care for the elderly and that it would continue to invest in providing better services to those in need.
