Tech and camping fans have been delighted by the smart tents gracing Mashan Mountain's grassy slopes in recent weeks.
The innovative, spatially efficient product was created by Wuxi Dalai Interactive Network Co. and was showcased at 2016 World Internet of Things Exposition (WIOT) in Wuxi several days ago. Visitors to Wuxi Binhu district's scenic mountain have been able to ditch hotel rooms in favor of the refreshing experience of spending a night closer to nature, albeit in a 6-square-meter room with enough creature comforts to placate the less hardy of campers.
The tent comes fitted with an air conditioning unit, refrigerator, TV, shower, toilet and a king-size bed. One neat feature of the smart tent is the overhead skylight that offers guests the chance to stargaze without having to leave the comfort of the bed.
The Dalai Interactive creation is a sterling example of an IoT Gateway product, an initiative aiming to increase the capabilities of smartphone technology to perform offline tasks, such as being able to remotely control home appliances. In the tent guests can use smart phones to control the air temperature.
In addition, the tent is both environmentally friendly and boasts with state-of-the-art safety features. Built from recycled materials, the tent is fitted with a both a GPS positioning chip and a high-definition camera to prevent against dangers such as wild animals or adverse weather.
The company has bold plans for the future and according to Qian Jianwei, chairman of Wuxi Dalai Interactive Network Co, the smart tent hopes to be unveiled at 5,000 East China scenic spots in in 2017.
