Wuxi National Hi-Tech District (WND) hosted the second representative assembly of the Wuxi Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) on Nov 21 to select a new board of directors, review past achievements and discuss further development of the industry.
WND top officials, and some 50 association members and company representatives, attended the meeting which included several semiconductor giants: the National Center for Advanced Packaging (NCAP), China Resources Microelectronics (CR Micro), SK Hynix, Wuxi Chipown Micro-electronics and Jiangsu Changjiang Electronics Technology (JCET).
Li Weimin, a high-ranking official of WND, gave the welcoming address to the assembly on behalf of the district.
He offered high praises for Wuxi SIA's contribution to the rapid development of the industry in Wuxi. He also expressed WND's willingness to further cooperate with Wuxi SIA to help WND gain an edge in the fierce competition of the integrate circuit industry.

Chen Tianbao, secretary-general of the board of Wuxi SIA, addressed the meeting, giving a working report of the first board of the association, including the financial revenues and achievements since the foundation of the Wuxi SIA in 2012.
Zhang Keping, director of the city's information and radio administration bureau, also gave a keynote speech during the meeting.
Zhang expressed his hope that Wuxi's integrate circuit industry will maintain focus on the innovation of core technologies, and follow Huawei's success in the breakthrough of the fifth generation (5G) mobile network.

He also revealed that Wuxi will provide more supportive policies to the integrate circuit industry, including investment promotions and research and development.
A new board of directors for the Wuxi SIA was selected during this assembly.
