4. Health Requirements for Participants

The marathon is an intense, long-distance athletic competition, and as such it is a high-risk activity. It has relatively high physical requirements of its participants. Participants should be in good health and have a basic foundation in long-distance running. Those with the following bodily conditions are not advised to participate:

a. Congenital or rheumatic heart disease

b. High blood pressure or cerebrovascular disease

c. Myocarditis or other heart disease

d. Coronary artery disease or serious arrhythmia

e. Diabetes with high or low blood sugar

f. A cold in the two weeks leading up to the competition

g. Pregnancy

h. Any other illnesses making it inadvisable to engage in physical activities

The organizing committee will require every participant to get a physical exam at a county-level or higher hospital before participating in the competition. Once the results have shown that the participant is healthy, he or she may participate in the competition. Otherwise, because a participant’s physical condition and other reasons may lead to physical harm or property damage, participants must take responsibility for themselves.

5. Registration Method

a. The full marathon registration limit is 18,000 people and the half marathon registration limit is 7,000 people. After the number of registrants for the full marathon and the half marathon exceeds the limit, eligibility for entry will be decided by way of lottery and alternates. The mini marathon registration limit is 5,000 people, and registration will stop once this number is reached.

b. Participants can log into the event website, input their information and pay the fee within the specified time.

c. When participants register, they must choose whether or not to accept an alternate. Participants who are not chosen by lottery and who are accepted as alternates shall obtain a number by lottery. Those who are not chosen by lottery and who are not accepted as alternates shall have the full amount of their registration fee refunded to the account from which they paid within one week of the results of the lottery.

d. This competition’s full marathon and half marathon have 200 charity spots available. Participants choosing to register for a charity spot can avoid the lottery; they will directly obtain their competition qualifications.

e. Any participant who has won successive qualifications in any of the 2014, 2015, or 2016 Wuxi marathon events will be exempt from the lottery selection process.

f. The top ten runners in all age groups of men and women of the 2016 Lihu International Half Marathon are exempt from the lottery selection process.

g. Before the lottery process starts, the organizing committee will inform registered participants who meet the conditions for exemption and can receive their competition qualifications.

h. Before the race the organizing committee will inform the participants to log in to the official website to check their bib number.

i. Collecting race materials:

Participants receiving race qualifications must bring a valid ID or passport (original) to the organizing committee's designated place to pick up their gear at the designated time. The details of the time and place shall be published on the competition website. If competition materials cannot be picked up on the morning of the competition, participants are requested to plan a reasonable pickup time. Runners who cannot pick up their gear, and want someone else to pick up their gear can do so, but the timing chip, runner’s bracelet and bib cannot be picked up by other people. Representatives must bring their own ID (original) and a copy of the participant’s passport to the pick-up point when picking up the other items.
