Jiangyin, a county-level city of Wuxi in Jiangsu province, once again proves itself as one of China's most economically competitive counties. The city was shown in the latest authoritative report listing the country's top 100 counties released in Beijing on Dec 16.
This is the 14th consecutive year that Jiangyin has claimed the top ranking on the list. Another county-level city of Wuxi, Yixing, is ranked at sixth place on the list this year.

Ji Kejun, an official of the Jiangyin's statistics bureau, is proud of the achievements the region has continuously been making through the years, and in his words, proof that numbers do not lie.
"Major indexes evaluating the performance of a county this year refer to its level of scientific innovation, social welfare and environmental protection," said Ji, "Jiangyin won by a clean sweep at the evaluation earning three A+ in these respects."

Statistics provided by the local bureau show that the county-level city will see its GDP break 300 billion yuan ($43 billion) this year with a per capita GDP approaching $30,000, a complete dominance in its category around the country.
From January to November this year, Jiangyin yielded a public budget revenue of 20.6 billion yuan ($3 billion), up 6 percent from the same period last year. The volume of fixed-asset investments earned more than 105 billion yuan ($15 billion), of which investment in high-tech industries accounted for one fifth, a remarkable 80 percent increase from the same period last year.

The list showing this year's top 500 enterprises in China has seen nine based in Jiangyin, and in the manufacturing category, Jiangyin enterprises hold 13 places. Emerging e-commerce enterprises, such as the renowned clothing enterprise Heilan Home, help to fuel the city's modern business engine. Seven new local firms were listed to the stock market this year, raising the total number to 42. In terms of innovation, more than 37,000 patents have been authorized in the past five years.
With a superior advantage in both quantity and quality of economic competitiveness, Jiangyin has reason to keep carrying the flag of the country's county-level economic development.
