Thirteen brave Jiangsu police officers who served in the UN peace-keeping force in South Sudan were awarded honorary certificates in honor of their service during a special ceremony held in Nanjing on Tuesday.
The 13 officers were selected from across Jiangsu province to serve in South Sudan. Among them were Qiu Haibo and Liu Bochen, both of whom are from Wuxi.
After a tough year where they often faced great danger, all the officers completed their tour successfully.
The thirteen officers, the fifth batch of Chinese police forces to serve in South Sudan since 2011, received several prestigious honors after completing their tour. In December 2016, the United Nations awarded each team member the Peace Medal, while Guo Shengkun, China's Minister of Public Security bestowed an order of commendation on each of them on Dec 23, 2016.
