The city of Wuxi, Jiangsu province has vowed to better social integration, giving out charity funds of more than 18 million yuan ($3 million) to special-needs groups in the city.
Wuxi's top official Li Xiaomin, president of the Wuxi Charity Federation Hong Jinxin and other local government counterparts donated the funds to representatives of more than 80,000 residents at an issuing ceremony held at the city's museum on Jan 13.
Li pledged continuous support from the government to improve the living quality of every resident, especially those of special-needs groups and impoverished families. He hopes the donation can help all of the recipients to have a happy Chinese Lunar New Year.

Those receiving charity funds includes families suffering serious illnesses, impoverished families, model workers with life hardships, special-needs groups, poverty-stricken students and the elderly.
In recent years, the city of Wuxi has been striving to improve public welfare. The Wuxi Charity Federation raised a total of 222 million ($32 million) yuan in 2016, giving out 185 million to more than 245,200 residents in need.
