A direct sea freight service between Jiangyin, a county-level city in Wuxi and Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province, was recently launched, the Wuxi Daily reported.
Containers previously departing from Jiangyin Port needed to go through several port transfers in Shanghai and Jiangsu's Taicang, before arriving in Guangzhou.
The new service now allows the ship to travel directly to Guangzhou, cutting delivery times and economic costs for logistics companies. The service route also promotes further business relation between the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta regions.
To date, Jiangyin Port has sea freight relations with more than 600 ports of some 100 countries and regions throughout the world.
