Those wishing to escape long queues into Wuxi's iconic Turtle Head Isle to appreciate the in-season cherry blossoms now have another option to beat the crowds.
Instead of trying to find a parking space and queuing on foot, from March 18 to April 28, visitors are able to catch a quick shuttle ferry from Shuishang Minghao Pier on Huanhu Road straight to the park's Chongshan Gate.
The journey takes under a minute across the water and will be operated during peak times such as weekends and holidays, at a cost of 30 yuan ($4) per person.
Wuxi's Turtle Head Isle is said to be one of the top three places in the world for appreciating cherry blossoms when they are in season. It is China's single largest cherry blossom park, with more than 30,000 of the plants in 67 different varieties.
The annual Wuxi Taihu International Cherry Blossom Festival is a tourist magnet for visitors from both home and abroad, thanks to its panoramic sightseeing views, distinctive nighttime activities and cultural events.
This year's festival opened on March 1 and will last till April 20. Visitors can enjoy the park on foot, by bicycle or by boat, to take in the flourishing flowers, historical attractions, and cultural charm.
