Wuxi International Marathon is the only full-length marathon held in Jiangsu province. Its route travels through and past many scenic spots and historical landmarks, making it one of the most picturesque marathon circuits around the world.
Entry to the marathon is limited to 30,000 places to ensure participants have access to good services and are able to fully enjoy the running experience.

In 2015, Wuxi came out on the fourth place in the list of China's top marathon destinations, according to Wuxi international marathon organizing committee. The list was compiled by the Runner's magazine and based on opinions of many runners and judges.
Judges raved about the Wuxi international marathon for its thoughtful services, attention to detail, adequate security, professional running and track design, and beautiful scenery featuring glistening lakes and colorful mountains.
The circular route passes through many local cultural and natural landmarks, including the national 5A scenic spot of Yuantouzhu Garden, a hundred-meter fountain, Jiangnan University, the Wuxi Taihu International Expo Center, the Wuxi Municipal government, the Wuxi Grand Theatre and the Taihu Star Amusement Park.
The judges said that runners feel as if they are running in a painting and experience distinctive local customs.
