In order to boost its modern industry, the city of Wuxi, Jiangsu province, upgraded the guidelines of the Taihu Lake Talent Plan on June 7.
The city launched the Taihu Lake Talent Plan last year to invite domestic and international elites to join the city’s efforts of boosting its modern industries, achieving remarkable results in talent and industrial development. This year’s upgraded guidelines will provide further optimization.
Nobel laureates, domestic and international academicians and State Supreme Science and Technology Award winners in the fields of internet of things (IoT), intelligent manufacturing and modern services who come to Wuxi to establish startups, promote the industrialization of core technology or provide economic and social benefits will be eligible to receive a subsidy of up to 100 million yuan.
The city government has also set up an entrepreneurship support plan called "Native elites come back to Wuxi". A subsidy worth up to 1.5 million yuan will be granted to Wuxi-born elites who come back to the city to establish startups.
Local folk artistry inheritors, helping residents make their own fortune or prosper through industrial development can enjoy treatments corresponding to "Project 333" talents.
County or district governments will receive a subsidy worth up to 10 million yuan for implementing the Taihu Lake Talent Plan.
The Wuxi government will continue to attract talent and establish related platforms, including holding exchange conferences for high-level talents and oversea recruitment. In addition, a human resources industrial park will be built to strengthen cooperation with staffing institutions, intermediary services organizations and the high-level talents market.
The local government will also pay more attention to the construction of pilot bases for innovation and entrepreneurship. The top ten pilot bases will receive financial support of up to one million yuan.
High-level talents will also have the chance to enjoy preferential policies in education, medical care and residency.
The Taihu Lake Talent Plan is an innovative move, eyeing further improvements under the guidance of the state. It is an important part of the city’s economy and will lay a solid foundation for its growth. Focusing on boosting industrial development and serving enterprises, the program will help the Wuxi government improve the city’s supply of talent and build a foundation for talented people to make their dreams come true.
